Beowulf is fully formed and in great condition currently good ice through out, little thin where it notches down in places.

There was/is a small open pool just after the first pitch(both initial tiers) that one can step over and get on the ice. Other wise no other open water that we encountered, but would say watch your step until the temps drop.

Beowulf is getting hit hard! It may not be possible to get to the anchor at the top of the first pitch after today until another good freeze. Where climb thins out just below this anchor the ice is very suspect and there is open fast running water eroding what little is left. Although we did make it through this section we were stopped about halfway to the upper pitch by a very deep and wide open pool. The 2m ice step on the other side of this pool had also collapsed exposing more fast running water.

Thanks miked. Folks, this is serious, be warned! best if left alone until ice has the chance to recover. Any further movement on this climb will only cause further degradation and/or possible rescue needed.
