We're pondering leaving this this site active for the summer--seems like it's working reasonably well for winter conditions thanks to everyone's reports, no reason it couldn't do the same in the summer. It looks to me like the forum headings would broadly work for summer also (one of the reasons we're considering just leaving it running as is, we wouldn't have to do much work).

If anyone has any suggestions for what we could add or change for summer please post them here, we'll add them.

Thanks, and have fun in March!

Will Gadd (AKA Iceadmin/willtest, gotta get on the moderator to sort himself out).

I think this would be an awesome idea. There are so many rock routes (long stuff) I would love to have beta for. As well I think it would broaden my horizons for the other areas such as icefields and yoho! There are no topos for so many areas , try Jasper for example, they have no guidebook for anything except going into the helpful gravity gear. Cheers and happy climbing!

My suggestion is simply to keep up with the moderation of the site so people post where they should and the site stays organized. I could see this site getting very buisy in the summer once word gets around. Thanks for the GREAT site and not commertializing it!

I would love to see the group of people we have posting on here continue to do so in the summer. So far we have all done a good job at keeping conditions and beta in the conditions sections and the bullshit/touchy discussions in the Ice is for Whisky section. I think if we continue to do so as a group, this site will continue to be as useful and enjoyable to use as it has been thus far. Thanks WG.

I’m psyched and very happy that folks have found this site useful. I’ve talked with Will and we’re gung-ho for keeping the site up for the Summer. We’ll continue improving the site and making it as useful as possible for the community.

Looking forward to furthering, expanding, and bettering the board over the coming months/years. To borrow Will’s words--Game on!

Cheers,
Eric

I think running this through the summer is a great idea. Pure rock routes dont change all that much, but an Alpine category would be very useful.

It would be nice to see the ice forums remain for ice. I'd hate to see non ice posts there during the shoulder season which is when the conditions posts are most needed. I guess that would mean minimal to no traffic in many forums but the addition of an Alpine forum sounds like an excellent suggestion.

And don't forget there's still live-the-vision for rock queries or climbing chatter as well as the ice-is-for-whiskey forum here.

I agree with you Grant - but at the same time if there was more threads it could be manageable. Maybe even a little design-feat could save us the headache and the buttpain (not so difficult a feat if the forum is well programmed which I think it is) - let's say having a red color for rock threads and keep the blue for ice chatters. So you'd know right from the main page there are more than one focus...

Makes sense?
