The approach was well packed. First pitches are beautiful and moderate. Upper pitches sport many hooks but feature spectacular climbing on melt/refreeze style ice with few fractures/dinner plates; very interesting and engaging. Steep and sporty feeling as if the ice has been molded by the chinook winds providing a beautiful sustained nature to the pitches; spectacular.

Snow slope between upper pitches and lower pitches is a little spooky, especially if things are heating up by the time you come down. Cornice on top threatens mainly the left side of climb. Snow slope in cave (right side of line) before the final pitch is also a signifigant hazard if it heats up enough. Balling crampons also a pertinent hazard on Saturday. Minor rockfall was occuring on the sides of the climb by the time we descended. Recommended to leave early and end early for optimal safety.

Note: It is nice to see the Waiprous without any new clear cuts. Hopefully there are no plans to destroy this area. I still cannot fathom the new clear cuts on the way in. Makes me f'n sick to my stomache, especially how all the smaller trees are just left there to rot. I have not seen one deer or any other animal since the cuts began, where as I used to see animals all the time. Anecdotal but scary to me there are no animals around.

I hope that is helpful, good luck!

Reminder: Do not drive across the river. You can easily skirt around on the left side, hiking towards THOS, Beowulf etc. Don't be a wuss its like a 30 minute hike extra if you park at 39.

Climbed Sorcerer yesterday. Pretty beat out, but very much still there, and great hooks all the way up. Quite the "gimmee" for my first WI5 lead \:\) In all reality, with the hooks all the way up, it's probably in WI4+ shape.

Go get it!

The puddles right now, I'd guess, make a 4WD clearance vehicle the way to go right now. I wouldn't want to try to get a Subie in there as it is.

Haha, Grant, I'll have to give you a lesson in Punk Rock...it's one of my favorite lyrics.

But I would've been happy to meet you guys (and I certainly would've bought you guys a beer!) Alas, I'm back in the states, working as a slave. Hope your slideshow went well \:\)

Take care, nice meeting you.

lol.. you know we stopped slavery in Canada eh!! As for the slideshow, one guy forgot his CD but the others were cool; and in any case the beer and monster wings make pub nights good each week.

A Black Flag sig?
