My last ice post seeing as Im going on a rock trip down south.
Just thought Id would let whoever know that its in great shape top grade 3 pitches are a little wet and the crux pillar offers one dry line on typical ice but super fun. As well as the snow above was almost non existent. Have a great rest of the season

Climbed Proffesors on Sat morning April 12. The route had a line on every pitch that was totally dry. The last Km of the road still has snow on it and would be hard to bike on your way back to the car if it is warm, the rest of the road is totally clear. We started to hike the river trail at 7 am. I would recommend being at the trail head at 6:30 if you want to rap the route and stay dry, otherwise walk off. The climbing is plastic the whole way. Enjoy.

Hate to say it, but I went and climbed Proffesors again on Sat April 19. The route has changed a lot from April 12. the melt freeze cycle has not been kind to her as well as the snow fall has produced a 3" to 4" layer of shite over the hero ice. On the last pitch the climbing is harder, and the gear is terrible, having to clean a lot to get screws that are mediocre at best.

Hi Karel

I was on the route yesterday and it is still in good shape. quick access with a bike right to the base of the drainage.

Of note all of the anchor stations that had tat on them before now have a BEEFY chain/maillon set up, including the anchor at the top of the last pitch (chains through the rock). This service was done by the user "DJEJ" .. buy him a beer when you see him - that chain is heavy!!

Hi Mike,
how was the snow above/around the route? If the predictions of the +10 on Saturday, would you say the route could be threatend?
Early start would be key I assume.

3 of us were up on Professors today and the route was in super fun shape. The new anchors were great and the v-thread that we did use was still good as well. There was some avy debris, but I don't know when it was from. Overall, we felt the snow conditions were fine, but a morning start wouldn't hurt. The route was wetter the higher we went, but wasn't really an issue. We were able to drive all the way to the trailhead and it wasn't a big deal to call the number on the gate to be let out when we returned. The best part of the day was heading back along the riverside trail and finding our footprints from the morning covered over by bear pawprints. Made the walk to the car seem very long as the bear was going the same way we were. Have fun.

Climbed Professor's today, April 26.

May 1st the road will be OPEN - and the route will still be in shape.

Right now it is in WI3+ conditions, the upper most pitch is the easiest it has EVER been this season.

Anybody been in there in the last couple of days? Planning to head in on Saturday, just wondering if anything's changed since the last report...
